Nine Baptized in Portugal
This summer David baptized nine in the International Christian Fellowship of Portimão. Five on Tuesday June 20th and four more on Saturday, Sept. 9th followed our Lord in believer's baptism. The five men and four women included two Portuguese, six English and one Scottish national. Each canditate made a public profession of his or her faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and seven volunteered to share in their own words their testimonies with the gathered assembly, including many friends and relatives.
Following both baptismal celebrations everyone enjoyed plenty of food and fellowship.

Hope married in Red Deer, Canada

Our eldest daughter Hope married the man of her dreams, Brian Constantine, on August 10th 2006 in Alberta, Canada. Hope met Brian in Riverside Baptist church where she has worked as a self-supported missionary since she graduated from Louisiana College in 2004. Brian proposed to Hope during the church service. -more
Hope wore a beautiful gown accented with a Spanish fan and red roses in her hair.
David & Heather Ludlam members of Riverside Baptist hosted our family from Portugal and Hope's grandfather from England and grandmother from Texas. The wedding service included a message from Dad, a poem from Granddad, a song from uncle Carl and a exchange of vows by Pastor Ashley. The reception was in the church's new meeting hall and was catered by the pastor's wife and church members . After their honeymoon on the Pacific coast of British Columbia, Brian started his studies at the Canadian Baptist Seminary and Hope continues working in the Red Deer hospital and helping the church.

The Borgans in Texas August 2006
After Hope's wedding Aug 10th in Red Deer, Canada our family visited friends and supporters in Texas from Aug. 14th to Sep. 1st. This is the first time Joy, Joshua and Faith have been back in Texas since we left two years ago. First Baptist Church hosted a special Missions Banquet for us on Friday August 25th. Delicious barbecue brisket was served to more than 100 guests at no charge thanks to the generosity and hard work of men and women in the church. Special thanks goes to Mike and Tom who donated the meat and cooked it in their deep pit barbecue.
We stayed in the mission home of First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, Texas and shared in the following church services. We spent the last week visiting our daughter Grace in college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

New home April 17, 2006
After months of prayers and paperwork, the bank approved our loan to purchase the house we had been renting since May 2005. Special thanks goes to Joy's father who sold his house in Cullompton, England and moved into a smaller cottage in Uffcolme. He and David's mother made it possible for us make a down payment and pay the taxes to close the deal.
This is a mayor step forward in settling down in our ministry in Portugal and Spain. Thank you for your prayers and support which keeps us here on the field. ...more.

FBC Mineral Wells Team in Spain & Portugal Mar 2006
Celebrating Ten Years of Transatlantic Partnership
Two Texas mayors, Texas Pastor Mark Bumpus, four Singing Men of Texas, and a united choir from six Texas churches directed by Jim Clayman of First Baptist Church, Mineral Wells traveled through Spain and Portugal March 10-20, 2006. Back during Easter week of 1996 the same church organized a mission team led by Clinton Watson, Mayor Myron Crawford and music director Steve James, while David & Joy organized the reception for them in Cáceres, Spain. The welcome given to the Texan's by Mayor José María Saponi and city councilman Raimundo Holgado, and the Catholic bishop was overwhelming. See original report and photos.
Now on Mineral Wells' second Iberian trip they took a combined choir of 38 voices and 7 musicians including 11 members from Lakeshore Baptist Church in Lake Dallas led by Ed Miller. In Spain the Texans performed in the Catholic Cathedral in Cáceres, in three evangelical churches, in the city park bandstand, and in a military base They stayed in the Albergue Municipal in Cáceres. Midweek the Texans traveled to southern Portugal were they were hosted by the mayor of Portimão in the Hotel Tivoli Arade and performed in the municipal auditorium and in the Good Samaritan orphanage. In both Spain and Portugal the team were treated by their hosts to receptions, banquets, and local folkloric & flamenco music and dance and provided charter buses by their Spanish and Portuguese hosts..
The Texans gave away thousands of gifts including cowboy hats, clocks, bandanas, partnership pins & souvenirs. Mayor Heathcott and former Mayor Crawford gave out over a hundred certificates of honorary citizenship from their respective cities. One special gift which was readily accepted and appreciated were 500 gospels in Spanish and hundreds more in Portuguese and English.

ICF Church Valentine's Banquet
On February 14th 2006 a dozen couples from our church shared a romantic evening together on Valentine's Day.
Hope's Engagement
Red Deer, Canada - by Hope
"At the end of our church service Sunday Feb, 12th. our pastor Ashley called Brian and I to the front. I was not expecting this at all, and gave a scared look to our pastor at which he grinned. Something was up but I wasn't quite sure, would Brian ask me to marry him at church? No, so I dismissed the idea. But when my pastor sat down and tapped Brian on the shoulder, I had to know this was it, in front of so many people that are dear to my heart. Brain said something like this: "It is very difficult to plan the expected unexpectantly, and I am happy to consider you all like family and to have you be apart of this moment. (then he turns to me after lowering on one knee) Hope Borgan, will you marry me?
I was mesmerized by the moment, I knew after he had asked my dad three weeks earlier that this moment was coming, when, I didn't know. I stared at his eyes for a few long moments, then my eye was caught by bright sparkling diamonds mounted on a ring, my heart leaped, this is that moment I have been waiting for!! with all my excitement welling up within me I said: "I will." but after talking with people later, no one seem to hear me. but saw me give him a kiss, and ask him to put the ring on me, because my hands were shaking too much to do such an easy task. Yes, I am engaged to marry this wonderful man of God. I am continually amazed how God provides for us beyond our understanding. Thank you for your prayers for me and now us in Canada. We will let you know, of a date for some time either August or September."
